How It Started
When operating and dine-in hours for food premises were heavily restricted during the height of COVID, our co-founders saw an opportunity to utilise restaurant kitchens during idle times, and to apply resources for a good cause.
The “Family Meal Collective” launched in August 2020 out of Yardbird’s kitchen, where we started preparing mealboxes, cooking with the same quality and care as if it were going to our friends, families, and teams. The meals were then distributed to those in need via a partner charity. Over the months, more people joined in by volunteering their time and contributing donations.
As social-distancing measures eased, we began exploring ways to continue the project. We opened the doors to our Chai Wan space in December 2021, inviting others to come together to do MORE GOOD.
Over the past two years, we’ve worked hard to lay the foundations of our operations and to find different ways to support our initiatives. Now that we’ve secured our charity status, we can’t wait to involve our growing community to make an even bigger impact.
